New Look A/W 2013 trends

Last week I was invited down to have a glimpse of New Look's A/W 2013 collection!
New Look is founded in 1969 as a British fast fashion brand. With thousand stores worldwide, it currently is the 2nd largest retailer in the UK women's clothing market. New Look prides itself on providing fashion forward pieces at value pricing.
Together with weekly new design arriving in stores, New look is able to translate the latest trends from the catwalk, celebs and the streets.
There are three main themes for this year's A/W collection!

Folkish Flair and Rustic Russian charm.
Featuring rich colors (think burgundy. navy and tapestry designs..)
Faux fur coats are worn over delicate, embroidered blouses and teamed with washed ripped denim and a colour-block beanie for a snug and stylish look. Shearling lined bikers, floral blouses and paring patterned knits with peplum jacquard skirt.
Prints and textures are layered up with accessories to create an opulent look that is rish in Autumnal colours, luxurious textures and statement jewels.
The Baboushka trend is inspired by Russian Glamour with embroidered lace accents Russian motifs, together with Tapestry florals.

If you've followed me on instagram, you would see the picture that I uploaded of my Baboushka outfit of the day during the workshop. (Big shout out to the other two girls in my team that helped styled this outfit that lets us clinch "best dressed" during the event!)
The Baboushka theme might seem a bit overwhelming to some people as it's filled with tapestry inspired prints. You could try to mix two different type of prints together OR stick to a print with a plain color. Here's three suggested outfits I would totally wear to school!

Left: Purple Tapestry print cami, blue boyfriend turn up shorts, black aztec print ballet pumps, gold baboushka doll necklace
Middle: Cream honeybomb knit longline boyfriend cardigan, Pink and cream rose tapestry vest
Right: Pink Tapestry floral stripe crop tshirt, mid-blue skinny jeans, black tapestry lace up trainers

Denim adds a casual feel to any outfit so if you want to dress down, pair the top with shorts or jeans. Go with Baboushka shoes if you're afraid to try out this trend! With the interesting prints on the clothing, you're able to go shopping after lessons or just chill out with your friends without using much effort to dress up.
Personally I think that this is my favorite out of the three new trends in New Look's A/W 2013 collection. I love how an item of clothing is made colourful by the tapestry prints, adding a luxury feel to the clothing item.

2.New Model Army
Unique simplicity
Sharp lines, structured shapes and classic cuts.
Fabrics are luxe, silhouettes are clean and colours are powerful and bold. Delicate sheer sleeves with a hint of shimmer add a feminine twist, whilst faux-leather panelling gives an alternative hard edge. Quilting adds a sports luxe touch alongside graphic tees. Monochrome is key and provides a neutral base that works to make the accent colours, scarlet and cobalt, hyper pop. Prints are statement with daring leopard and graphic checks used to transform must-have staple pieces.
New Model Army is a collection of wardrobe VIPs reworked with indulgent textures, luxe fabrics and with a burst of colour or print.
Inspired by leather, details, zips and animal prints.
Here are my three outfit combinations that I would wear!

Left: Black leopard print heart foil top, boyfriend turn up shorts, black buckle block ankle boots
Middle: Red ponte single button blazer, black asymmetric leather look biker skirt, red and grey color block heels
Right: Black metallic animal print swing crop top, grey high shine disco pants

Left outfit takes you on a casual day out while the middle outfit is suitable for a more formal event. If you're daring enough, opt for disco pants for a sleek look. Pair it up with heels and you're good for a night out with some friends. New Model Army is another word for Model off duty, so channel the casual yet sharp look rocked by the models!

Cool, carefree confidence and effortlessly edgy
Comprising bold print, tough texture such as leather pencil skirts, fishnet tights and distressed biker jackets. Fur trimmed canvas parkas, textured cardigans and graphic print tees keep things casual.
Studs, chains and spikes are key details that toughen up an outfit and the color palette is muted, with floral design thrown in.
Dark florals and Tartan are the inspiration behind the Grunge trend.

Left: Black rose pattern sleeveless shirt, parisian zip pocket leather look shorts
Middle: Red tartan raglan wrap top, black exposed pocket denim dungarees
Right: Misumi black floral roll sleeve dress

The Red tartan raglan wrap top is really unique and pairing it with dungarees would make the outfit cuter instead of looking old. Dark floral prints keeps the feminine design while giving it a slight edge.
All three outfits are suitable to wear in Singapore without looking too out-of-place.
Also, you can try wrapping a checked shirt around your waist for a Grunge look instead of wearing tartans.

With Autumn and Winter coming up, despite Singapore being such a sunny place, you can still rock those Autumn/winter trends! Trying layering with thinner clothing items such a camisoles, cardigan and maybe a scarf.

Good news for my readers! If you quote "omy bloggers" at New Look Stores, you will receive a 10% discount on regular-priced items (valid from 14 to 30th September 2013).
Head down to the nearest New Look outlets to check out the three latest collections!
All clothing items shown here are from New Look by the way!
