Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock review

I have incorporated using sunscreen into my facial skincare routine and I will almost never leave house without applying at least a layer of sunscreen on my face. The UVA and UVB rays causes damage to the skin cells after repeated exposure and I sure didn't want to have my skin aged so quickly over time! After all, beauty begins with healthy skin.

While choosing a suitable sunscreen, the most important criteria is to ensure that your sunscreen would offer a long lasting and stable protection against both UVA and UVB rays. To check if your sunscreen gives you UVB protection, you can look at the SPF factor which measures how long you can stay in the sun without the sunscreen before getting burn- that is to say, applying that sunscreen with an SPF of 50 would take 50 minutes longer for your skin to get burn.
To check for UVA protection, look at the PA rating which is typically a "+" sign. The more "+" sign it has, the higher the UVA protection. The "+" sign protection is super important as UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin thus causing premature aging and skin cancer!

Neutrogena is the number 1 dermatologist recommended brand in the USA for Over the Counter Skincare category and one of the few brands in Singapore that has suncare protection for both face and body. In addition to their suncare range, I'm sure you would have also heard of their wide range of cleansers, make up removers, moisturizers etc...

So what makes the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry touch sunblock so special?
In order to protect our skin from the harmful effects of UV rays, Neutrogena Helioplex Technology was introduced to cover the full UVA and UVB in terms of sun protection. This layer of protection does NOT break down after being exposed to the sun as Helioplex stabilizes UVA protection even under intensive sunlight so you can be assured that your sun protection does its job more effectively over a longer period of time.

The texture is rather similar to a moisturizer, easy to blend with a light floral sunscreen scent to it. What I love about this product is that it doesn't feel sticky to my touch or on my skin at all! Most people would only remember to apply sunscreen on their arms/legs when they're at the beach (myself included) since most sunscreen feels uncomfortable on the skin. However, I quite enjoy applying the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry-touch sunblock on my arms every day since I got it as it feels as though I'm just applying a layer of moisturizer! This product can also be applied to the face too. Overall I really enjoy using this product. You can check this out if you're looking for a good non-sticky sunscreen.

With body suncare protection, you can't forget to apply sunscreen to your face.
Neutrogena also has an Ultra Sheer Complete UV Waterlight Lotion that you can double up as a makeup base. It has a lighter consistency but a stronger "sunscreen" scent to it. That being said, products with suncare protection in it typically reflects light more thus will leave you skin looking rather dewy (or even oilier if you have oily skin) so remember to dust some loose powder on top of it to mattify your face and set the product in place.

Some fun facts, did you know that protecting your skin during the first 18 years of life can reduce the risk of some types of skin canceer by up to 78%?
Also, you can get sun damaged even on a cloudy day or while being indoors if you're sitting near the window! Up to 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate light clouds, mist and fog.
It's better to start protecting yourself from the harmful sun rays than to regret it later on in life!
